Lethal & Legal: Tell Congress to Stand Up For Asbestos and Mesothelioma Victims

May 14, 2015

The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on the industry-backed Furthering Asbestos Claims Transparency (FACT) Act THIS WEEK.

Also known as the Asbestos Death Database Act, the act is opposed by every single asbestos victims’ group for a number of reasons, including the alarming inclusion in the bill that every individual seeking compensation would have to publicly disclose detailed personal information, including medical information. In addition, the bill would significantly delay and/or even deny payments to both victims and their families.

While every single asbestos victims’ group has voiced their stark disapproval of the proposed bill, there is one group that is promoting the bill as much as they can: The asbestos industry itself, composed of special interest groups like big chemical companies and of course the infamous Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas).

Unfortunately, these special interests hold a lot of power, and the House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on Rep. Farenthold’s bill THIS WEEK.

We are asking all victims of asbestos and mesothelioma, all loved ones and family members and concerned citizens to stand up today by stopping this bill in its tracks.

All you have to do is click here to contact your member of Congress. Let them know that you oppose Rep. Farenthold’s industry-backed bill.

The clock is ticking. Asbestos is lethal and legal — and the powers that be are doing everything they can to make it that much harder for its victims.

It’s time to speak up against the asbestos industry and special interest groups; it’s time to stand up for the victims of asbestos and mesothelioma today.
