Clinical Trials Not Yet Recruiting
When last investigated on March 19, 2009, it was being reported that the following clinical trials were planned but were not yet recruiting participants:
A Phase II Study of the Association of Glivec® Plus Gemzar® in Patients with Unresectable, Refractory, Malignant Mesothelioma
Condition: Mesothelioma
Italian researchers will evaluate whether a combination treatment with Imatinib mesylate and Gemcitabine has anti-tumor effects in patients with mesothelioma expressing PDGFR-beta or C-kit. Participants must not be candidates for surgical intervention.
N-AcetylCysteine vs. Placebo to Prevent Neurotoxicity Induced by Platinum Containing Chemotherapy
Conditions: Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer; Small Cell Lung Cancer; Mesothelioma
Dutch researchers will study whether the anti-oxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can prevent cisplatin-induced neural toxicity in patients receiving cisplatin chemotherapy for lung cancer or mesothelioma.
Sunitinib and Hydroxychloroquine in Treating Patients with Advanced Solid Tumors that Have Not Responded to Chemotherapy
Condition: Cancer
In this Phase I trial, researchers will study whether giving sunitinib and hydrochloroquine in combination can halt the growth of tumor cells in patients with solid tumors who have not had a positive response to chemotherapy. The drugs are believed to block some enzymes needed for the growth of new cells and to block the flow of blood to the tumor.
