About the MCW Cancer Center:
The MCW Cancer Center is an integrated partnership of cancer research scientists and physicians at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center, and the BloodCenter of Wisconsin. It is a matrix center comprised of more than 200 physicians and scientists and is the only academic cancer center in Wisconsin’s most populous region, encompassing more than 2.3 million people.
Our scientists and physicians are the recipients of approximately $15 million annually in peer-reviewed cancer-related research funding from the National Institutes of Health and other federal and private funding agencies. They have contributed to breakthroughs in functional magnetic resonance imaging, photodynamic therapy, low-dose radio-therapy, use of radio-protective agents, improved melanoma detection in sentinel lymph nodes, T cell-depleted bone marrow transplantation from unrelated donors, and breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. MCW is home to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, an NCI-funded database with records on over 200,000 procedures done at 500 medical centers in 50 countries. The Cancer Center helps develop new research programs and supports existing research programs through fund raising, awarding grants, and maintaining strong cancer core research facilities.
