The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the N.C. Cancer Hospital are creating the new face of cancer research and treatment in North Carolina.UNC Lineberger is the only public comprehensive cancer center for the State and the people of North Carolina. Our mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and across the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. The N.C. Cancer Hospital – part of UNC Health Care – is the cancer center’s clinical home.
With support from the state of North Carolina for the construction of the N.C. Cancer Hospital and through the University Cancer Research Fund, UNC Lineberger faculty treat cancer patients, conduct research into the causes of cancer and search for new treatments, develop and direct statewide programs in cancer prevention, and train future physicians, nurses, scientists and public health professionals.
The Thoracic Oncology Program brings leading-edge multidisciplinary and compassionate care to patients with thoracic malignancies. Incorporating specialists from pulmonary medicine, surgery, medical and radiation oncology, thoracic radiology, pathology, and oncology nursing into a single patient care team, our team ensures that expertly developed care is individualized for each patient and delivered in a well-coordinated and caring manner.
