A powerful meeting of minds adjourns today as the 2012 Meso Foundation (formerly MARF) Symposium hosts its final discussions on the hazards of global asbestos exposure. Baron and Budd is gratified to have taken part in an event centered on those afflicted and/or affected by mesothelioma.
The 9th annual event was a resounding success, offering speaking platforms on a wide range of topics that impact patients, families, medical experts and asbestos advocates.
This year people who were previously unable to attend were given the ability to watch live streaming video of the conference. The stream, made available on MARF’s website and Facebook page, permitted long-distance viewers to post questions for speakers and the organization in real time.
The three-day dialogue covered everything from research and treatment, caregiving and coping mechanisms— to legal procedure and status of current legislation. Experts in each field joined to present a seamless flank in the battle against asbestos injuries.
Baron and Budd was one of the sponsors of the MARF Gala Celebration of Hope Dinner because the firm believes in the symposium’s compelling platform for public discussions; this year as always permitting those joined in the fight against mesothelioma to connect with like minds and galvanize their resources and efforts.
We appreciate the opportunity to meet with some of the top mesothelioma medical experts and advocates in the nation, such as Linda Reinstein, president and co-founder of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO); Dr. David Sugarbaker, founder of the International Mesothelioma Program (IMP) at Brigham and Young Women’s Hospital in Boston; Dr. Harvey Pass, renowned thoracic surgeon at NYU’s Langone Medical Center; and Kathy Weidemer, Executive Director of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF). The firm has also begun connecting with many newcomers in the mesothelioma community as it looks ahead to broadening its relationships.
We wish to express our thanks to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation for sponsoring this landmark event.
