Honoring Our Veterans on Memorial Day 2011
On the eve of Memorial Day weekend 2011, we’d like to take a few moments to remember our veterans who have passed, particularly in the service of our country.
Memorial Day was actually first enacted to honor fallen Union soldiers in the Civil War, and, after World War I, was extended to honor Americans who have died in all wars. Ever since, the holiday has been extended to honor everyone who has passed –family members, friends and even people who have passed due to the horrible cancer mesothelioma, many of which are veterans.
Mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The sad thing is that the asbestos companies have known about the connection between their products and mesothelioma, as well as other asbestos cancers, for decades, but have chosen to ignore the facts in order to continue making money from their products.
Because of this, numerous people (and their families) have been exposed to asbestos, and some of them could develop mesothelioma or another asbestos diseases. Certain types of lung cancer have even need connected to asbestos exposure.
Please join us in remembering a veteran, friend or family member who has passed due to mesothelioma, and help honor their memory.
