New Mexico Contractor Fined $817,000 For Illegal Asbestos Disposal
Advantage Dumpster and Seal Coating has been accused of illegally disposing a substantial amount of asbestos in a number of illegal locations, such as high school dumpsters, an auction yard and other public locations, which could possibly expose an unknown number of people to deadly asbestos fibers.
The New Mexico Environment Department has fined the contractor $817,000 for illegal disposal of deadly asbestos. Rather than properly disposing the asbestos, the company chose to put profits over people by simply dumping the asbestos anywhere they saw fit.
Exposure to asbestos, particularly when the invisible fibers become airborne, can lead to an incurable form of cancer known as mesothelioma, along with other asbestos cancers. Because of this, there are laws in place about the proper disposal of asbestos and, in all cases, mesothelioma attorneys recommend hiring a professional asbestos abatement company.
