New Mesothelioma Research Includes Testing of Human Vaccine
DALLAS (September 24, 2010) – As National Mesothelioma Day nears on September 26, we reflect on all of those who have fought the valiant battle against this disease. Those who are winning and the loved ones we’ve lost. Although asbestos use in the U.S. has plummeted from a peak of 885,000 tons in 1973 to 1,609 tons in 2008, the nation’s epidemic is far from over. As many as 10,000 Americans still die of asbestos-related diseases each year; one expert estimates that 300,000 or so additional people will die within the next three decades.
