North Carolina church to replace asbestos ceiling
During June 13 services at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, part of the plaster ceiling collapsed on parishioners. Twelve parishioners were taken to the hospital with head and neck injuries, but all were released by the following day. The debris was tested and found to contain asbestos, so the church was closed for asbestos removal and cleanup. A new ceiling will be installed before the church can reopen for services. In the meantime, church services will be held elsewhere.
