Mesothelioma claims U.S. Navy veteran at the age of 89

Charles H Clodius of Bremerton, Washington died of mesothelioma on May 21, 2010 at the age of 89. Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos fibers. Symptoms of mesothelioma can take 40 years or more to develop.

Clodius served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946, which is most likely when he was first exposed to asbestos. Later, he worked for PSNS, Art Anderson Engineering and Q.E.D. Systems. He retired in 1975. Charles is survived by his wife, daughter, son, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life was held at Manette Community Church on May 29.
