Memorial Coliseum demolition continues
The Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi, Texas is coming down piece by piece. Asbestos is being removed from the air conditioning system, non-load-bearing walls are being removed, and the roof will come off after that. Everything that can be recycled will be. Steel beams and roofing materials will be recycled, some of the bricks will be used for a planned WWII Veterans memorial, and the fittings – like seats, soda machines and the stage – will be sold. The palm trees will be uprooted and relocated to a city park. By August, nothing will be left of the old structure. Grass will be planted on the spot and a sprinkler system installed. No further plans for the property are available at this time.
