Iowa students get long weekend due to asbestos
School officials in Davenport, Iowa decided to close the Blue Grass Elementary school when renovation workers accidentally cut through a pipe and exposed asbestos insulation material. Students arrived at school on Friday, May 21 to find it closed down and got an unexpected long weekend. After cleanup and air sampling, the school was reopened the following week.
