Vermont Boy Scout camp cleanup complete
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently completed environmental cleanup of asbestos contamination at the Mt. Norris Boy Scout Camp in Eden Mills, Vermont. The work was requested by the Green Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, which began with sampling in early 2009.
All 58 buildings in the camp were cleaned, the tents used by the Boy Scout campers were opened and vacuumed, bare earth areas and the parking area were covered with asphalt, and surface water was rerouted to minimize ground cover erosion. The camp is back in operation for normal summer activities.
