Bid accepted to tear down asbestos-laden nursing home

Dirty Ducts Cleaning, Environmental & Insulation won the contract bid to demolish the former Sauk County Health Care Center building, located in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Committee members stated that while Dirty Ducts did not submit the lowest bid, they did submit the lowest bid with a firm price quote for asbestos removal included. The winning bid was $582,845, significantly lower than the $642,000 that was budgeted but higher than bid of $512,800 from another contractor, Robinson Brothers Environmental, Inc. The committee chose the higher bid because the asbestos abatement quote from Robinson was open-ended and too low to be a viable estimate.
