Elmira Armory demolition used special equipment
Demolition of the Armory in downtown Elmira, New York is progressing well. Asbestos removal began in January, and the roof came off in April. After that, the real demolition will begin as special equipment is brought in to take down the building. Current plans for the site include a green area and extended City Hall parking, but plans have not been finalized for the rest of the lot. The city could use an Annex, but the money is not available. Selling the property is an option, although it has not been seriously considered.
