Contract awarded for Delaware Hotel demolition
The Delaware Hotel in Delaware, Ohio was a nice place to visit when it opened in 1974, but it has become an eyesore in recent years. It was slated to be torn down to make way for new development starting as early as mid-April. The contract for demolition and asbestos abatement was awarded to B&B Wrecking and Excavating Inc., a Cleveland-based company.
Plans for the 5.4-acre lot are undetermined, but the land will be used for a residential project as required by the terms of the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Funds grant that will provide the $480,000 needed for demolition. After the demolition is complete, the city will accept proposals from private and non-profit developers.
