Wyoming State Hospital moves patients due to asbestos scare

Asbestos was found during renovations of the heating and air conditioning system at the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston, prompting them to move 20 patients and 48 staff members to another location. An asbestos abatement company has been called in to assess the issue, and all construction work has been stopped. The hospital specializes in mental health treatment.

Asbestos exposure can be dangerous for workers and for the public. Inhaling asbestos fibers can cause respiratory diseases like asbestosis and mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer. Trained asbestos professionals are needed to ensure that removal is done properly to minimize the health risks associated with asbestos.
