Two indictments for improper asbestos removal in Massachusetts
Contractor Jonathan Gabriel and property management company 240 Main Street Properties Inc. were indicted by a grand jury on charges relating to illegal asbestos removal and waste handling. The state alleges that the asbestos removal at the building located in Worcester, Massachusetts was conducted using unsafe methods, and the building windows were left open during the removal, putting the public at risk of exposure to dangerous asbestos fibers. Asbestos is a toxic substance that was commonly used in construction materials until the 1970s. Because it is known to cause mesothelioma and other serious illnesses, the handling and removal of asbestos is strictly regulated to protect public health.
