ADAO applauds HR 1138 to establish National Asbestos Awareness Week
The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) supports Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee and his cosponsors for introducing HR 1138 to declare the first week of April National Asbestos Awareness Week. The goal of National Asbestos Awareness Week is to raise public awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure and the prevalence of asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma.
Cosponsors and supporters of the resolution include Representative Raul Grijalva of Arizona, Representative Lois Capps of California, Representative Gwen Moore of Wisconsin and Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio. Cohen and his fellow supporters are all democrats.
The ADAO is grateful that members of the U.S. House of Representatives are interested in raising public awareness about asbestos. It is estimated that 100,000 workers around the world will die of asbestos-related diseases in the next decade – approximately 30 deaths per day.
