Summerlin construction project still delayed
Construction on a new $20 million overpass in Fort Meyers, Florida has been delayed for several months due to the discovery of asbestos contamination. Posen Construction was ordered to stop construction on the Summerlin Road project when the asbestos chunks were discovered. A consultant was hired to help clean up the site and find any additional sources of contamination that may be hidden in the overpass foundations.
Six cubic feet of asbestos has been documented, but the consultant’s report states that there could be more. Cleanup of the contaminated soil will begin in a few weeks, and Posen Construction has volunteered to work day and night to complete construction once the issue is addressed and the project is back on track.
