Demolition underway at Besse Hotel

The Besse Hotel in Pittsburgh, Kansas is undergoing a project to restore its former glory and convert the historic hotel into low to moderately priced apartments. There’s a great deal of work to be done, from cleaning out piles of trash left behind by former residents to installing modern sprinkler and electrical systems. Hazardous materials like lead and asbestos will need to be removed before any other work is done to protect the health of work crews, as well as the health of others living or working nearby.   The project is expected to be complete by the end of November.
