Major demolition and redevelopment project in the works for Chicopee

Officials in Chicopee, Massachusetts have decided to demolish a total of 16 buildings in the area. The buildings are old, run down and frequently vandalized. They will be demolished to make room for a senior center, a hotel, two restaurants and retail and office space. GZA Geo Environmental is the company responsible for the asbestos removal and debris cleanup after demolition.

Chicopee has other plans to acquire surplus military land, as well as land from a local church to continue the city expansion efforts after this project is complete. Ground breaking for the project will happen once the state highway department approves the necessary road improvements to relieve traffic issues associated with the growth.
