Georgia Tech demolishing Burge Apartments
The Burge Apartments on the Georgia Tech Campus will soon be demolished. As students have found other housing arrangements, the need to keep these older apartments open has diminished. The decision to demolish the apartments was based on a variety of reasons. In addition to how old the buildings are, there were security concerns as ledges outside the windows made it easy for people to get in and steal belongings. Empire Dismantlement, the independent contractors who won the bid, began working on the asbestos removal stage in mid-February.
