Giant Eagle to remodel former Big Bear location

A  Valu King Food Market will soon be moving into a former Big Bear location in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. The parent company, Giant Eagle, plans to spend $1.5 million remodeling the building and removing asbestos. The company will be soliciting state grant money to cover some of the cost for removing the asbestos in the floor tiles as well as in the plumbing and duct work in the building.

This will be the fourth Valu King Food Market to open, and the first in central Ohio. The company focuses on low prices of their private label brands. The store will feature a butcher and fresh produce section, and will bring 45 jobs to the area.

After the Big Bear closed five years ago, many other local businesses lost customers as well. These businesses are anxiously awaiting the opening of the market in anticipation of an increased consumer base.
