Florida police department considers location for new headquarters

The police department in DeFuniak Springs, Florida could soon have a new home. The location of the current police department has become cramped and difficult to get into and out of. Additionally, water damage from a leaky roof has continued to damage offices and has destroyed many files. The DeFuniak Springs City Council is considering renovating the former Health Department or building an entirely new Police station. Before the former Health Department could be utilized, it would have to be renovated to remove mold and asbestos. This renovation process is estimated to cost at least $1 million. Building a new police station is estimated to cost a bit over $3 million.
