Montour High School looks for temporary space to house students during renovations
Montour High School in Pennsylvania will undergo renovations next year. The school is currently looking for a temporary area for the school to continue educating its students. There are numerous reasons for the students and staff to be relocated, including more than 69,000 square feet of asbestos tile, toxic glues used to hold carpet and chalkboards in place, light bulbs with mercury and mercury vapor lamps that all contribute to poor indoor air quality.
Moving the students and faculty out of the school is not only better for their health; it will also cut the renovation timetable by almost a year. Unfortunately, guidelines for school buildings are strict, and locating a suitable replacement has been difficult. The school board hopes to find a solution by March.
