NCCN announces Flash Updates with malignant pleural mesothelioma release

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) has announced a new service called NCCN Flash Updates, which provides email notification to subscribers when updates are published to the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium and the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology.

Users currently registered at NCCN.org have received a complimentary preview of the Flash Updates that notified them of the latest update, the publication of the NCCN Guidelines for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM) as an addition to the Complete Library of NCCN Guidelines. The Flash Update included information about treatment options for malignant pleural mesothelioma patients and first-line therapy regimens. A new chapter on malignant pleural mesothelioma was also added to the NCCN Compendium.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure which attacks the membrane surrounding the lungs, abdomen or heart. Mesothelioma is very resistant to treatment, so new information is always beneficial.

The NCCN Guidelines are updated continually as new clinical evidence and research data becomes available. Flash Updates make it possible for clinicians to have timely notice of this information so that they can make more informed treatment decisions for their cancer patients.
