Officials in Evansville, Indiana have agreed to buy the former Libs Candy store for $180,000 in order to make way for the Downtown arena project. It was the last building needed at the site of the future Downtown arena. Evansville has spent approximately $2.2 million to purchase the Main Street properties that are being demolished for the project, and the city has agreed to pay another $452,000 to help the previous owners of the properties move out.

Asbestos abatement and lead paint remediation had to take place before demolition could begin in mid-January. Historical pieces from the buildings were already removed for preservation purposes.
