With mesothelioma-causing asbestos gone, Montana-Dakota Utilities building comes down

The old Montana-Dakota Utilities building in Billings, Montana began demolition in January after asbestos remediation was completed. SBH Inc. was hired to perform the demolition. In its place, a new federal courthouse will be built. The courthouse project will cost $59.4 million.

The former Wells Fargo bank building was already taken down to make room for the new courthouse. Between the two buildings, a number of materials have been recycled: 1,072 tons of concrete and masonry, 67 tons of metal and 28 tons of other materials. The number is expected to increase as demolition work continues.
