Tear in the protective plastic during VBC asbestos work
The Von Braun Center (VBC) in Alabama has been undergoing construction work. Visitors to a Havoc game or the boat show in mid-January may not have noticed the warning signs concerning asbestos. They may not have noticed, either, that there was a tear in the protective plastic barrier adjacent to an open air conditioning vent.
VBC officials could not be reached for comment, but the hole has since been fixed. Asbestos is a toxic substance that must be removed under strict regulations. Inhaling asbestos fibers can cause mesothelioma and other serious respiratory illnesses.
