Mark Twain’s birthplace temporarily closed for renovations
Florida, Missouri is the home of the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site. The museum was closed in mid-January while repairs were done to the leaky roof and ceiling, according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Contractors were brought in to assess the damage, perform the repairs and remove asbestos. The historic site includes the cabin where author Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was born. The museum contains the cabin along with some exhibits and some of the author’s personal belongings.
