Mesothelioma widow spends time as health care volunteer
Geraldine Parker of Foxboro, Massachusetts lost her husband Pete to mesothelioma over 25 years ago. Pete was 57 years old when he died of the asbestos-related cancer. Geraldine is now 79 years old, and she has volunteered over 2,000 hours as a health care volunteer at the former Southwood Hospital and at Caritas Foxboro since after her surgery for colon cancer five years ago. She escorts breast scan patients from the waiting area at Caritas Foxboro, where she underwent chemotherapy, and tries to put their mind at ease. Geraldine also knits hats for newborns and sweaters for the Knits for Kids program.
