Corydon asbestos bids come in under estimate

The old hospital campus in Corydon, Indiana is being transformed into a new government center. The Harrison County Board of Commissioners opened up remaining bids for the project at a special meeting on December 16.

The project manager had estimated that asbestos abatement bids could come in around $900,000, but the highest bid topped out at $870,000 from LVI Environmental Services. The lowest bid was from Midwest Service Group at $434,895.

Bids were also opened for the demolition of the oldest portion of the hospital, ranging from $2.5 million to $3.4 million. Other bids that were opened included radio communications, the mechanical and plumbing package and the electrical package. Six out of the seven bid packages came in under budget, and the recommendations were to accept all of the low bids and the alternates.
