Asbestos found at Iowa care facility

The former Jasper County care facility in Iowa is contaminated with asbestos. Ames Environmental Inc. performed an inspection involving nearly 100 samples from around the facility on December 21. Fourteen of the samples tested positive for asbestos, mainly in floor tiles, roofing and other construction materials. The county supervisor said that the next step is to create an asbestos mitigation plan and have it approved by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) before the buildings can be demolished.
