Homer Glen withdraws its intent to buy Dunn Farm
The village of Homer Glen, Illinois is formally withdrawing its letter of intent to buy Dunn Farm for use as a community park. The withdrawal was completed when Hickory Grove Investments returned the $10,000 in earnest money put up by the village.
Homer Glen had received a lot of public criticism about the land acquisition due to the poor economy, and the criticism was fueled by the discovery that the property had asbestos in some of its buildings. Withdrawal proceedings began in mid-December.
Though the mayor supports purchasing Woodbine Golf Course instead of Dunn Farm, the village board will be looking into how it goes about acquiring land to avoid contentious debates in the future.
