Union Springs school district asks voters for $500,000 to remove asbestos, make renovations
The Union Springs School District in New York will be asking residents to vote in February to approve a $500,000 loan to complete a capital improvement project at the middle/high school. The $500,000 would help start a $695,000 project that could be reimbursed fully by state aid. The project includes removal of 10,000 square feet of asbestos ceiling tiles; replacing two water heaters; installing new emergency lights, alarms and speakers; installing new classroom security door locks and possibly covering some masonry repairs if there is money left over. A public information meeting was scheduled for January 13, and the vote will be held on February 2.
