Demolition, asbestos removal begins at War Memorial Stadium
Demolition work began in mid-December on the press box at War Memorial Stadium in Arkansas. The old press box dates back to 1966, and it is being replaced by a new $7.3 million press box that will be completed by the start of the 2010 football season. Asbestos abatement has already begun, and it will be getting a makeover that makes the press box more comfortable and more up-to-date technologically. The project will increase the number of enclosed club seats from 218 to 494. Wittenberg Delony & Davidson (WD&D) is the architect for the press box project and KINCO Construction Company is the general contractor. When the project is completed, the press box will be available for special events, offering increased catering and food services for guests.
