$63 million in renovations will make Lincoln Hall a green building

The University of Illinois’s Lincoln Hall has been approved for $63 million in funding for renovations as part of the Illinois Jobs Now program. Governor Pat Quinn, State Senator Mike Frerichs and State Representative Naomi Jakobsson spoke at the ceremony that announced the approval for the funding.

Renovations will make Lincoln Hall a much safer place for students and staff; they include upgrades to electric, plumbing, HVAC and fire alarm systems as well as asbestos abatement. Additionally, the renovation project will reconfigure classrooms and replace floors, ceilings and wall finishes. The project plans have been certified by Leadership in Energy Design (LEED) so that Lincoln Hall will become a green, energy-efficient building. Lincoln Hall has not been renovated since 1932.
