Mesothelioma takes life of former Haverford dean
Greg Kannerstein of Haverford, Pennsylvania died from complications of mesothelioma on November 24 at the age of 67. Kannstein spent 41 years of his life at Haverford College in various roles as Athletic Director, head baseball coach, Assistant Dean of Students, Acting Dean of Admissions and Dean of the College.
In July, Kannerstein had begun working as a Special Advisor to Institutional Advancement and Lecturer in General Programs. He was forced to take medical leave in October after being diagnosed with mesothelioma only weeks before his death. Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure that can take decades before it manifests.
Kannerstein is survived by his wife, stepdaughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
