Potential mesothelioma treatment TUSC2 shows promise in study
Researchers conducted a study to look at a novel tumor suppressor, FUS1/TUSC2, and its relationship to malignant pleural mesothelioma, an aggressive form of cancer that attacks the lining surrounding the lungs. The study evaluated clinical specimens of malignant pleural mesothelioma for TUSC2 insufficiency at the mRNA level, the DNA level and the protein level. The link between asbestos exposure and TUSC2 expressed was evaluated by using reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavengers and asbestos-treated mesothelial cells. The results of the study determined that TUSC2 shows potential for immunotherapy in malignant pleural mesothelioma treatment.
