Prometheus announces new mesothelioma diagnostic test

Prometheus Laboratories Inc. has announced the nationwide commercial launch of ProOnc Mesothelioma Dx and two other cancer diagnostic products, ProOnc TumorSource Dx and ProOnc Squamous Dx. All three tests are based on highly sensitive, recently developed microRNA technology. MicroRNAs are tiny non-coding sequences of RNA that are vital to many biological and pathological processes. By using microRNA-based diagnostic tests, clinicians should be able to differentiate between various types of cancer tissue to deliver safer and more efficacious therapy to their cancer patients.

ProOnc Mesothelioma Dx is a molecular diagnostic test that utilizes microRNA in order to differentiate malignant pleural mesothelioma from both peripheral adenocarcinoma of the lung and metastatic carcinomas of the lung and pleural tissue.

Prometheus obtained the rights to these diagnostic tests from Rosetta Genomics. Outside the United States, they are marketed as miRview mets, miRview squamous and miRview meso.
