California city wants to start Boys & Girls Club
The city of Yuba-Sutter, California is trying to bring in the Boys & Girls Club of America. The grassroots effort will need about $350,000 in money and in-kind donations in order to get a branch started under the Greater Sacramento Boys & Girl Clubs.
A potential site for the new Boys & Girls Club has already been identified. The old Station 4 of the Yuba City Fire Department is located in an area that is heavily populated with children, making it ideal for students from different schools to attend programs and activities. The building was vacated a few months ago when a new station opened up. The site would require asbestos abatement and other environmental remediation before it could be used, but the YMCA has also expressed interest in the building.
