Mesothelioma lawyers Baron & Budd sponsor national TV initiative on lung cancer and asbestos

A national television initiative to raise awareness of lung cancer and asbestos cancer risks features pathologist and lung cancer advocate Deborah Morosini, M.D. The TV spot is being sponsored by asbestos and mesothelioma lawyers Baron & Budd, P.C.

Dr. Morosini is a researcher for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals who helps develop cancer drugs. Her sister was Dana Reeve, wife of Superman actor Christopher Reeve. Dr. Morosini became a dedicated lung cancer advocate after Dana was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2007 and died seven months later. She feels that lung cancer doesn’t get the same kind of awareness as other forms of cancer even though it’s the number one cancer killer in the United States.

In addition to her work with AstraZeneca, Dr. Morosini is a board member for two nonprofit lung cancer organizations, the Lung Cancer Alliance and the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation.

Russell Budd, managing shareholder of Baron & Budd, said that he is honored that Dr. Morosini is working with the law firm to raise awareness of lung cancer risks. For over 30 years, Baron & Budd has represented thousands of clients with asbestos-related diseases like lung cancer and mesothelioma.

About 160,000 Americans die from lung cancer every year. As many as 60 percent of new lung cancer patients have never smoked cigarettes or had stopped smoking many years ago. Environmental toxins like asbestos can play a significant role in lung cancer development, and asbestos is not currently banned in the United States.
