Buffalo businessman turns asbestos-ridden building into upscale hotel and condo complex
Uniland Development turned the former Dulski Federal Building in Buffalo, New York into an $80 million upscale hotel, condominium and office complex called Avant in just about two years. The old federal building was contaminated with asbestos. It had to be stripped to its core, removing the concrete façade and replacing it with glass. The new condos will cost between $400,000 and $1.4 million for residents. Uniland received an $11 million grant from the government and millions of dollars in tax abatements for Avant.
