Unsafe Iowa apartment building to be demolished

A vacant apartment building in Sioux City, Iowa has been deemed a public safety hazard. At a recent press conference, the inspections services manager stated that the property owner hadn’t taken any action on the building, so the city council is now deciding on awarding a demolition contract to Hebert Construction. The building has been red-tagged and marked for demolition since April 2007. It has been used by both vandals and transients. Safety issues include old stucco falling from the exterior and deteriorating asbestos throughout the building.
