New York elementary school underwent asbestos work, renovations over the summer
The Schuylerville school district in New York has undergone a number of changes over the summer, including a new superintendent and many classroom additions. A $15.5 million construction project added 50,000 square feet to the elementary school and 11,000 square feet to the junior-senior high school. Asbestos, a known carcinogen that was used in most building materials for many years, was removed from the flooring and ceiling tiles in 17 classrooms, hallways and the elementary school library. The asbestos removal cost $346,000 to complete.
