Cleanup begins at former Alco Industries site
Environmental Resources Management and Performance Site Environmental have begun cleanup at the old Alco Industries building in Fremont, Ohio. Work began on September 8. The project includes the installation of a temporary fence, removal of trees, relocation of water lines, disconnecting the utilities and plugging the sanitary sewer. After that, contractors will begin asbestos removal, pressure washing the interior and rinsing samples. Next, workers can begin demolition activities, soil excavation and decontamination. Then the lot will need backfill and compaction, sheet siding and fencing installation and a final inspection. The project is scheduled to be wrapped up by October 5, but the schedule is subject to change.
