Cleanup after bar fire hampered by asbestos abatement
The Sly Fox Bar in Parkersburg, West Virginia had to be demolished as the result of a fire in late April. The cause of the suspicious fire is still under investigation, as West Virginia recognizes no statute of limitations on arson.
Cleanup of the fire site has been taking place, but it was hampered by the need to remove asbestos from the rubble. Asbestos is a known carcinogen, and there are certain safety requirements for handling and removal procedures. Now that the cleanup has been completed, construction has begun to rebuild the bar further back off the street to allow for parking in front.
