Asbestos abatement forces relocation of Gage County Attorney’s Office
Renovations at the Gage County Courthouse in Nebraska have forced four attorneys and three administrative personnel from the Gage County Attorney’s Office to move downtown. The renovations include elevator work and asbestos abatement. Asbestos is a known carcinogen, common in building materials for much of the last century.
The staff at the attorney’s office has had to recruit help for the move, as it took over a week to make preparations and actually move everything to a law office downtown. Some of the inmates from the Gage County Detention Center assisted with the move.
Gage County Attorney Randy Ritnour hopes that the move downtown will help his office get more involved with the community. The move also requires better organization of files and records, which will help county attorneys reach their long-term goal of having a paperless office.
