Rosetta Genomics and Warnex announce new mesothelioma diagnostic test in Canada
Warnex Medical Laboratories has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Rosetta Genomics in Canada. Under this agreement, Warnex will be distributing Rosetta Gemonics’ miRview meso and two other pharmacogenetic tests in Canada. Rosetta Genomics has already signed similar agreements with Prometheus Laboratories in the United States and Teva Pharmaceuticals in Turkey and Israel.
The miRview meso test uses the high specificity of microRNA as biomarkers to distinguish between mesothelioma and lung cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are naturally occurring small RNAs that serve as master regulators in the body, and their recent discovery shows promise for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases such as mesothelioma. Without a single specific, reliable marker, mesothelioma can be difficult to differentiate from other forms of cancer. But miRview meso is a significant step forward in providing a simple and consistent diagnostic test for this serious asbestos-related cancer and distinguishing it from other cancers of the chest cavity.
The other two diagnostic tests that Warnex Medical Laboratories will be distributing in Canada are miRview mets and miRview squamous, which can accurately identify the primary tumor site in metastatic cancer patients and distinguish between squamous and non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), respectively.
